Alloway v Maidens
This annual game took place at Alloway recently.
In weather perfect for bowling, we had 36 players and a number of partisan supporters.
It was a close game and, out of six rinks, Alloway won three, drew one and lost two. The final score was: ALLOWAY 72. MAIDENS 61.
The cash sweep for the 'best score' was won by Mary Black, Jimmy Ritchie and Gavin Roser with a score of +10.
As always, Rhona, the Club's Cook, provided an excellent meal.
We look forward to visiting Maidens next August.

Henderson Trophy Competition
Sunday, 8th of June was a day that will be remembered as one of the finest (literally) in the history of the Alloway Bowling Club. 24 members met to do battle in the Henderson Trophy Balloted Mixed Pairs competition. Games were played during the afternoon and, at the end of which, the team of Alice McAdam and Peter Watson were declared the winners, having beaten the team of Maggie Edgar and Bernard Cotton by the narrow margin of just one shot.
The perfect weather continued throughout the afternoon, although a rainbow was spotted when the watering system accidently burst in to life just as play was about to commence and it was fortunate that the green was totally unoccupied at the time – no crock of gold was found! Club chairman George Bone congratulated the winners and thanked those who helped to make the competition such a success, and especially thanked member, Allan Henderson for sponsoring the trophy, as well as organising the event. On Sunday the bowling section held their annual RNLI fund raising sweep. There was a good attendance for the game, despite the unsettled weather, and ten teams battled it out for the event’s trophy. The team of May Condie (skip), Bernard Cotton (2nd), and new member, Isobel Currie (lead), won by a narrow, but respectful, margin! The winning team are pictured hear with Vice-Chairman, Bill Templeton, and Match Secretary, Ronnie Good.
