Parking Issues at Cambusdoon
Parking can sometimes be an issue at Cambusdoon especially approaching match times. Whilst there is a club carpark this can fill up quickly. However, there are many convenient places to park near the ground - please see the map above:
A: On Monument Road, there a style to get to the ground https://www.google.com/maps/dir//55.4295827,-4.6365709/@55.4292977,-4.6342903,17z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e0
B: A carpark 2 minutes walk from the ground - also an electric charging station: https://www.google.com/maps/dir//55.4281581,-4.6340174/@55.4284332,-4.6342903,17z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e0
C: The Cambusdoon carpark - but note that it is often very busy and hard to get parked. There can also be a queue to leave: https://www.google.com/maps/dir//55.42926,-4.6348757/@55.4292977,-4.6342903,17z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e0
In general Broune Drive, Pattle Place and Rigwoodie Place are not ideal for parking. Also, please do not park on pavements.
Your understanding in this matter is appreciated and helps us maintain good relationships with our neighbours.

Police Incident at Cambusdoon - Can you help?
On Thursday 30th July a group of 5 youngsters gained unauthorised entry to our 3G pitch shortly after 9pm and within minutes of the gate being locked by the last users. It is clear that one of the boys had managed to obtain a key for the gate which is concerning. Later on that evening 4 of them are seen leaving the pitch for a few minutes walking towards the club flat. It is believed that this group then started to harass the tenant in the Clubhouse flat by knocking on the door and windows and also attempting to enter the flat by turning the door handle. This is quite unacceptable behaviour and the matter has been reported to the police.
We are currently reviewing our CCTV system to get enhanced images of the persons that were involved to help us to identify them; in the meantime if anyone has any information or knows who this group are then please contact the club or email us at [email protected]
It is almost certain that these boys are local to the area. 3 arrived on bicycles and 2 shortly thereafter on foot. All 5 appeared from the Alloway road side of the Club.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Cambusdoon Clubhouse Bar Reopens
Delighted to report that our friendly Clubhouse Bar will reopen from Monday 27th July from 4pm. During the week from Monday to Thursday we will only offer, for pragmatic reasons, an inside bar service unless of course there is a heatwave! However our extensive outdoor seating will be available for your use and comfort.
In line with current government guidance there are a number of additional restrictions currently in force over and above those in situ for outdoor hospitality. These include table seating only, no seats or standing at the bar and no standing space; table service will be the norm and due to the continuing social distancing requirements capacity will be cut to a max of 45 members and guests at anyone time.
So, from Monday 27th July the bar will be open as follows:-
Sky & BT Sports are available and hours may be altered to accommodate major sporting fixtures.
Catering will normally be available between 4pm and 8pm Friday & Saturday and 3pm to 7pm on Sunday. However due to a recent family bereavement these hours are subject to change at short notice over the next week or so.
From feedback received, it is clear that most members, especially families and large groups, really appreciate the comfort and safety of our huge beer garden so our intention is to continue to focus on our outdoor bar at weekends for as long as the weather allows.

Cricket & Football Return to Cambusdoon
Outdoor Hospitality at Cambusdoon this Weekend from Friday 17th July
Over 110 members visited the Club on opening day last Friday which was a superb turnout and thank you all for your support. Saturday and Sunday was also very well supported. Member feedback was extremely positive and we are delighted to confirm that our beer garden will be open once again this weekend providing a bar and catering service to our members and their guests. The hours of operation will be as follows:-
When visiting please follow the signage and continue to adhere to all COVID related government guidance in force at the time.
The Clubhouse remains out of bounds except for toilet access, however we have a rather large outdoor space to utilise at Cambusdoon, which allows our members to space out and please feel free to bring your own seats and travel rugs, if you want to spread out even further.
The forecast for the weekend is positive, so all that remains is for you to come along, relax and enjoy an hour or two in the company of friends and family.
"It's life, Jim, but not as we know it" - but certainly another very very welcome step towards normality!

Upgrade to Pitch Floodlights Completed
The project to replace the old floodlights and renew the wiring and controls has now been successfully completed. An independent test of light uniformity has been completed and the installation passed with flying colours. While upgrading we also moved to LED lighting which should reduce energy costs by at least 40%. The modern style of lights also results in significantly less light pollution.
Apologies for the quality of the photo, those rays do not appear in real life! |
Bowling Returns to Cambusdoon.
Bowling returned to Cambusdoon on Monday 1st June and many our bowling members have enjoyed their delayed start to the season in generally great weather and with the green in great shape. Detailed guidelines and how to book a rink have been issued to all members of the Bowling Club. There is no turn up and play at this stage, however there are plenty of slots available for our members.
Should anyone want to try out bowls with a view to taking up the sport (or returning to it) then please contact Beryl Black, the Club President ([email protected]) or any bowling committee member and they will help you to do so. |

10:10 Charity Trust Friday Night Pizza Delivery proving popular....
Rhona & Lino are continuing to make use of our kitchen facilities at Cambusdoon to prepare meals on behalf of the 10:10 Trust for distribution to individuals and families adversely affected by COVID. Last week they prepared over 500 meals at the Club which is a fantastic effort and all this is done on a voluntary basis; well done guys! They also work closely with the Trust to ensure that appropriate social distancing practices are in force when ingredients are being delivered and the Trust helpers arrive to pick up the meals for distribution.
|
Over the past 2 Friday nights they have also produced nearly 250 pizzas for sale and distribution by the Trust. This has raised over £600 each night for the 10:10 Trust. To find out more or to order your delivery please visit the 10:10 Trust Facebook page.
Cambusdoon Playing Grounds Looking Good.....
Thanks to the overwhelming support of our members by continuing to pay their membership fees, where they possibly can, we have been able to implement our spring / summer grounds maintenance programme with the simple aim of keeping the grounds in excellent condition and we are determined to have them available for our playing members from day 1 of reopening. We are all looking forward to that day enormously. In the meantime, follow the government guidelines, take care and stay safe!
Blood Donors Required.....
Ayr CC member Neil Logan (an anaesthetist at QE2 hospital in Glasgow) has asked that we publicise the increased need for blood donors at the current time. Anyone able to help can go to www.scotblood.co.uk and find the nearest centre. Please help out if you can.

Cambusdoon Supports Local Charity Initiative.....
Following an approach from South Ayrshire Council and the 10:10 charity, our resident caterers are now preparing over 100 meals per day at the Club, which are collected by the charity and distributed daily to individuals and families who have been severely impacted by the knock on impacts of COVID-19. A fantastic effort by Rhona & Lino to help out on a voluntary basis in these unprecedented times. Cambusdoon is delighted that it was able to support this initiative via the provision of it's kitchen facilities.

Sorry the Clubhouse is Closed
Following the announcement tonight we confirm that the Clubhouse is now sadly closed with immediate effect. Draconian yes, but we are facing a once in a generation event. At the end of the day though this is about saving lives, so let's embrace it, work our way through it, help those who need support and when we look back in 30 years, we can say we did our bit.
We are already looking forward to being able to say we are open, and rest assured that will be a big event - by that time we will all deserve it!!
Keep safe everyone.

Car Parking when visiting Cambusdoon Sports Club
As members and visitors will be aware at peak times there is a shortage of parking within the immediate vicinity of the Club. This is exacerbated when other events are on at other local venues which means we are all vying for the same limited spaces. Can all visitors to the Club please use any available space within the Club's car park in the first instance. Where space in the car park is not available and when parking in Broun Drive please keep pavements clear and also please use the nearside (to the Club) kerb only. Parking is also available on Alloway Road and access to the grounds can be obtained via the Poet's Walkway and over the style.
Please park carefully at all times and be courteous and considerate to the neighbouring residents and to your other road users by ensuring that you park safely at all times. |
